GBS Alumni Association Comittee Meeting, 31 October 2010

The Gajah Berang School Alumni Association committee held its first meeting folloiwng the Jubilee Dinner on Sunday, 31 October 2010.

The following items were discussed:

1. The Final Accounts of the the Dinner was presented to the Committee.  The net profit from the Silver Jubilee Dinner event was RM5,643, which goes back to the Association's funds.

2. The Committee expresses its thanks to our MC for the night, Frank Low who despite being slightly held up, more than made up for it with his persuasive and lively style with the audience.

3. The Website's visitors' statistics were presented.  From 10 October 2010 to 30 October 2010 (three weeks) we had 231 visits, of which 95 were new unqiue vistiors.  There were 1266 page views, averaging 5 pages per visit. On average each vistor spent 7 minutes on our website.

The statistics indicate that we need to carry on improving our content, and in order to do this, we need more people (authors and editors) to help with managing the content and content creation.

4. The Committee decided to procure a laptop with a budget of RM2,000 for the Editor in order that he may be able to carry out his (voluntary) work more effectively.  Hitherto the work has been carried out on an old computer which proved to slow for the job.

5. The Committee agreed that we shall start publicising awareness of our Association with the Fifth Formers and Sixth Formers of our alma mater by conducting visits, advertising in the school magazine and notice boards.  We will be making arrangements with the school in this regard.

6. The Committee will be looking into making arrangements for small, informal but regular gatherings of ex-GBSers by publishing these events on our website.
