THE Gajah Berang School Old Boys Association (GBSOBA) in Malacca is going online with the launch of their new website in conjunction with their 25th anniversary.

The association will be having a dinner to celebrate their silver jubilee tomorrow and the launch of the new site will be the highlight of the event.

Its president Hamzah Sidang Mohamad said the website would be a great platform for all former students to get in touch with each other.

He said this would also help cut across more spectrum as members would be able to interact, share thoughts and make posts.

“We have great plans for the website with different sections for contributions, exchange of views, job posts and career guidance which will benefit school children as well as graduates.

“This is our way of giving back to the school and society in general,” he said, adding that they were hoping to link it to the social networking site Facebook.

He said they hoped to move in the right direction as members would be able to share their rich experience in life.

Looking back, Hamzah said the association had been very active by hosting events like family gatherings and social activities.

They had instituted the Tan Sri Rahim Noor Award for the best all round student and the Excellence Award for STPM students.

The association has also made contributions to the school to help underprivileged students with their exam fees.

“The school started with one block and we had no science lab or field back in 1956.

“However, we excelled in academics and sports,” he said.

The association dinner will be held at the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort in Petaling Jaya.
