In memory of Jalil Ibrahim (Alumni 1965)

As the Persatuan Bekas Pelajar Pelajar Sekolah Menengah Gajah Berang, Melaka celebrates it's Silver Jubilee this year, many ex-students will be meeting once again to brag about the good old days in GBS, but fewer still, especially those of year 1965 will recall their good old classmate Jalil Ibrahim who left GBS in 1963 after his LCE to join the Royal Military College.

Its been 27 years now, but we who know or not know you will always respect your Spirit of Truthfulness and Honesty.

He was with BMF as its Assistant General Manager in 1983 when a loan scandal rocked the finance company.  He was sent to HongKong in July '83 to investigate alleged irregularities at the banks subsidiary involving the fraudulent award of  RM 2.5 billion in loans by Bumiputra Finance Berhad to the Carrian Group headed by Malaysian businessman George Tan.

Just a couple of days after that he was killed in Hong Kong by yet another Malaysian Mak Foon Than who was eventually sentenced to death by the Hong Kong High Court.

Its been 27 years now, but we who know or not know you will always respect your Spirit of Truthfulness and Honesty.
